When AI Fails at SVG
But after he downloaded the image, he realized it wasn't SVG.

Is the Internet Really That Dangerous
Scams are everywhere these days, and it's easy to feel like the internet is dangerous—that we're one click away from being tricked, having our passwords stolen, or our accounts hacked.

Native JavaScript and HTML5 Time Features
In the console that appears, type or paste `Date.now()`, press Enter, and you can get how many milliseconds have passed from 1970 to **now** (1625798004061 milliseconds). Then you can tell others you've written JavaScript and it's not Hello World (just kidding).

Why Change One Character
I've contributed to a project called Gatsby, which has 50,000 stars on GitHub. Using Twitter as an analogy, while it might not be at the level of top influencers like Obama, Justin Bieber, or Katy Perry, it's probably close to the level of LeBron James, Jennifer Lopez, or Elon Musk.

Basianshan Main Peak Trail
I love this feeling. Around 12 o'clock, when we were almost at 4.5K, we caught up with a hiking team from Changhua. They were definitely going to summit. At that point, the two of us suddenly had an evil thought:

A Case Sensitivity Customer Service Game
About a day later, someone provided a link to a person-to-person connection—wait, I mean a "discussion thread link." Anyway, they thought my error message was similar to the error message mentioned in this thread and suggested I try the suggestions in the thread, which was to modify the referenced library version, i.e., modify the `package.json` file.

Upgrading to Gatsby 3
I discovered that this small change significantly reduced the time I spent reading documentation, because I was reading my own Chinese version of the documentation, which only documented the 2-3 scenarios I would use. More importantly, this customized documentation followed my own logic for remembering and searching, so I could find things very quickly with my eyes.

Tonight I'd Like Some Nullish Coalescing Operator
That way of thinking shows up in human life too. When I used to negotiate patent cases, for some company bosses it helped to invite their wives along—because by the time the boss calls you in, he's already decided to file, but the person who controls the money may not have agreed yet. The machine logic we just learned, `boss && wife`, applies: closing the deal depends more on the wife. Helping her understand what a patent is and why to apply seems to raise the odds.

Eating Grapes Without Spitting Out the Skins
Held up and shaken by my ear, it made no sound; when my fingers left the surface there was a slight sticky noise.\n\nThe raisin's wrinkles twisted; under the light some parts looked translucent—clearly a whole grape shrunk down.\n\nMy nose picked up a clear charcoal-roasted smell; it may have been fire-dried. Pinching the right nostril shut, I found the left was more congested and smelled less, though carefully I still caught the aroma—and it seemed different from smelling with the right nostril alone.\n\nThat clear smell excited me so much my hands shook for a moment. Something as familiar as a raisin turned out to have so many interesting traits I'd never noticed.

Input Methods
I also stumbled on an extra perk: if you have foreign friends who've studied Chinese (for some reason, whenever I hear the word “friend,” I picture Mayor Han giving a speech), and they want to write Chinese to you but hit a character they can't write, they'll spell it in pinyin—and you'll be surprised you can read it. In chat, when they can't read a Chinese character, you send them the romanization and somehow they get it too.

ECMA6 Template Literals
Along the way I also noticed something else: when TV and media blast those three names at you, it barely registers—but today, typing James Soong, Han Kuo-yu, and Tsai Ing-wen with Boshiamy on a physical keyboard, it hit me that Soong and Han share the same character 瑜.

Today I practiced a home-cooked dish every developer knows: a todo list.

JavaScript Loops
Later I looked at the instructor's approach: he put the for loop inside a function and used return both to send back a value and to exit the loop. A basic but important trick with return.

Taipei Badminton Open
There were quite a few Malaysian fans in the arena. From the start, the scores stayed within a point of each other until Malaysia took the first game 21–19. \n In the second game, Korea suddenly found another gear and won 21–15 by a wide margin. In the third, Korea kept the momentum and led all the way to 20–15. \n At that point, everyone—including, I imagine, the Korean pair themselves—thought the title was theirs. After all, those were five championship points: you only need one more point to win, **and you get five chances**.
